I woke up this morning to a shock. MJ no more. I was bathing when my brother pounded the door of the bathroom to give me the news. I was shocked! MJ no more! What? And then, I cried. [It's very unusual for me considering the fact that I never wept even one single tear when people in my family expired one after the other] No MJ! Are you really gone?...
It's very difficult for me to type all this out. On one hand I HAVE to blog about this. And on the other hand my brother is playing MJ songs on the music system. This is very very difficult...
Michael Jackson songs have virtually shaped my life.. My childhood, my teenage, the first CD I ever bought was "The Best Of MJ". It had 2 parts. And the 2 cd's played all the time. I remember when MJ had come to India. I was 9 years old that time, and I used to live very close to the Sports Complex in Mumbai, where his concert was held. My elder brother was a die hard fan of MJ. He was cool 'coz he listened to english songs. He told me and my 5 yr old brother all about it. He used to train us to dance like MJ. It was so much fun! And then, on the day when the concert was to happen, all 3 of us stood on the building terrace, and saw the chopper fly right above us. We were so excited! Jumping, screaming, running, dancing... And the chopper had actually stopped at one spot between our building and sports complex. We actually thought it stopped so MJ could wave at us. Those were the days!
And then we watched it all Live on TV. MJ landed on the stage in a "Spacecraft" and then he came out and gave the best performace I have ever seen of anyone in my entire life. We had recorded it all on a video cassette. All the noise, the blood rush, ladies fainting, enter ambulance, the policemen, every thing. And after the concert was over, the 3 of us played the video cassette in slow motion every single evening, after we returned from school, and practiced all those moves. We never got the moonwalk right, except for my bro who did it almost like that!
That was just the beginning of a love affair. The love affair with pop music. The love affair with a superstar. When I was 13, I still remember, my elder cousin sister had gone to the extent of cutting her wrist with a compass needle to carve "MJ" inside a heart. The carvings on the wall of the terrace of my old building, nothing can erase them. They're still there. I will always love you MJ.
Yeah, so what if he was accused of all the wrong things? So what if he did get into all that? We all make mistakes! He was punished so much because he was so good at heart. The man who shot his documentary actually frauded MJ and released it on worldwide TV. MJ had trusted him. Isn't that wrong? But that doesn't matter. Nothing matters. 'Coz MJ is no more :(
I love you MJ, We love you, Mumbai loves you, and I am sure India does too... And Mumbai skies are crying 'coz we have lost you today. Rest In Peace. This is not the end. You will stay in the millions and trillions and gazillions of hearts of people like us all around the world.

...You never said goodbye
Someone tell me why
Did you have to go
And leave my world so cold...

... I used to dream
I used to glance beyond the stars
Now I don't know where we are
Although I know we've drifted far ...

When i got up and saw this news...for a moment i thought it must be a coax ...but wish it was!
I can't even imagine my childhood days without him! He was a hero then! and i still remember some of my friend being totally crazy and doing crazy things for him!
From his concerts to his marriage to what not! Everything was on tips of our memories!
Ya he made mistakes....but that's a part of him i never could decipher much! Because he was above the rest in my memories of school!
And ya even we used to practice his dancing big time!
May his soul rest his peace!
And he will never die for his fans ever!
Vasudha,
He will be missed! But he will be alive and kickin' in the form of his fantastic music and a permanent place in the hearts of all of us..
I agree Nabs, I agree with every word you said.
You are not alone. Thriller, Beat it, Earth Song, You rock my world... :( :( :(
You will be missed MJ.. R.I.P :( :(
:( :( :( :( :(
I am watching his documentary on youtube Annie :(
i am still in disbelief....i cant imagine my life without MJs songs...For me Earth song is the most beautiful song of all times..
R.I.P MJ..I wish you would throw ur hat at us one more time...
I sob silently for about 5 minutes and then immediately went in my room and play "dirty diana", and I have a smile on my face! for some unknown reason... Did He ever died? Did janis joplin, kurt cobain, jimmy hendrix ever died? I guess... No! these people have made themselves Irreplaceble on The span of time... from the very moment these souls make their mark to the every day when even a single song of their plays in some CD player or a radio show, They Live on!
I thought how hard it might have been for Micheal to everytime move out from his home for the past decade when he was just being joked about in so many videos, and talk shows !! I feel it all is one big disgust this very moment..
I know that death of WHACO-JHAKO is just an illusion, an outer layer thats on our television screen but he was immortal, he is immortal and would always be that....
As kid english music for me meant MJ. Was exposed to others quite late .
I remember him coming to india . there was no power that day in our locality , so i had to miss the event live :(
he will be missed big time .
Ashri , his songs are always there , but pain will be felt while listening ( at least by our generation )
Mj s --they don't really care about us-- has always been a inspiration for me....
His songs-- has changed the entire perception of the way people look at the music of the 80s....
He made his mistakes & he had his share of celeb scandals...
But he made good music.... no great music....
And in his music-- he will be remembered and will last 4ever...
A touching tribute to a Legend. His music will last forever, and thus he too lives on in so many ways ...
HE touched so many lives with his music, his dance, and his strive for success ... have left so many memories with us in our life !
It's too bad he fell as fast and high as he'd risen. Life is such, I guess ...
I was shocked too when i saw the msg in fb.. :(
May his soul rest in peace!
A Legend...no doubt...people come and go but the history wil speak, indeed it was a shock!! ya, the moon walks..tried it 100 times and never right! goood write as usual!
Hary
Pulkit,
So true! He has just transformed. He is immortal now. He will never be forgotten!
Neeraj, me too... The first English song I ever heard was of Michel Jackson.. I don't quite remember which one. But yes it was MJ. And you are right, he has set up a new generation. Not only that, he has been sticking around while this world changed!
I was thinking to myself, and I was thinking of all the misery he went through, accusation, exploitation, suffering, loss... But the bottom line still remains. He is a legend and will always be one. Maybe he needed to get rid of all the wrong the media was doing to him. I am actually kinda happy that he is at peace now.
Muthu..
Well said.. It will be heard forever!
I agree Adisha,
Life has been fast... Very fast for him. Like I mentioned above, I am glad his misery came to an end... Sigh...
Nusrath...
:(
RIP MJ!
Hary... No one can beat him, and even if they do, they cannot be like him! That's MJ for us. Marriage with a Presley, Statues of Monroe and Chaplin at home, and a childlike mind which will never, ever grew old. Love you MJ!
I can understand what ur going through right now.Maybe I wudn be able to reiterate ur feelings at a complete level coz I have never been a big fan of Pop or any of the western forms of Music. But then,he has been an icon and it sure is a shock..
Maybe its like this.Have u noticed how some ppl become immortals even though death has separated them from us.He sure will be immortal to all his fans through his Music.
God Bless!!
Hugz... :)

Yeah it really is a terrible loss to the world of music and to fans such as yourself to whom he has been such an influence.
I have heard all of MJ's songs but i ve never actually been a big fan which is y maybe all of this doesnt affect me all that much but i guess i know what its like to have your idol die - def not the best feeling in the world.

That was so heartfelt. :)
And RIP MJ is all that i can say..
It's damn shocking :(
Yes Pawan, RIP MJ.. He is all over the papers today... I am just reading things over and over again and discovering new things! I read that he did the concert in India for free!
Miss Sunshine,
It is very shocking! It feels so helpless.. It's not like he's unwell. He is gone! :( It is still in the sinking process in my mind.
Thanks for those words Amit :) They mean a lot. He made great music, but more than that he was a wonderful human being. RIP MJ...
aint a MJ fan.. but man it ws such a heartfelt post ashrita.. i can feel ur vibes...
may his soul rest in peace..
I had never been a fan of MJ's. But there have always been MJ moments to remember in my life. Like my aunt who knew nothin about english music, leave alone pop, talking at length about this kind hearted guy they call MJ back in the west. Or one of my friends in class Sixth saving on all his pocket money for months to buy the Limited Edition version of History audio casettes. Or the girls going mad for a guy who performed the moonwalk to near perfection at my college freshers... stuff legends are made of. RIP MJ...
Well... we all miss him. R.I.P MJ
You are a comm pilot??oh woowwwww.. :) That's soo cool.. :D Sky is prolly one of the coolest places to be at rite now.. Who says, sky is the limit for women?? Congratulations.. and hats off ashrita(now, das a nice name, found SD too big to write down.. :D)
Take care pal..hope ur better now.. :)
Nikhil
Thanks sulo badri.. Thanks for understanding.
Welcome to Memoirs Ajai.. And yeah RIP MJ!
Thanks a ton Nikhil :) I am better now. Accepting the harsh reality!
Aseem,
Exactly, that is what legends are made of <3
Ita a terrible loss, he will always remain the king as long as music lives..
His songs hav always touched us someway... :(
may his soul rest in peace..
I am just more and more content that he has left us after those horrific autopsy revelations!
he is doing moonwalk in the clouds
Yeah Chriz! :D
he said when he lived, "When you are loved, in your birth and in your death, you are the luckiest and happiest"
so he died...happy and lucky...atleast, in his own words....
I'm going to miss Michael Jackson too. Nobody can forget his extra ordinary dance. He ruled the music world and he still does. And he'll always be in our hearts.
Please don't cry :(
*HugZz*
He died and took away something profound from the world. But what he left behind is a legacy for the whole world to treasure. Think about it what a treasure has he left of us all. That's the kind of thing you can never payback. Sigh.
