Celebrating Monsoon - Love

It has been raining steadily for the whole last week. And it's about time I celebrate the next aspect of rain. The previous one was Inspiration, and this one is Love. Love is incomplete without rains, and rains are incomplete without love. The sweet smell of love and the freshness of the moist air captures our hearts and triggers a beautiful emotion somewhere deep inside. Anyone in love will have a special something to share about rains. Be it with their partner, or even alone.

People have shared beautiful moments associated with rains and the weather, right from sitting by the window to having piping hot "bhajiya" or "pakore" with tea, to taking bike rides or long drives with their loved one, splashing water on each other in the rainy puddles, or even just walking in the rain with an umbrella in the hand but not really using it as a means for covering yourself in the rain, but as an excuse to be sticking close to the one they love. Recently, I even heard from a friend who is happily married that they took the huge decision of standing by each other forever when the whole family was against them and they had met for the last time to call it off, but it rained heavily, and that rain completely changed who they are today to who they could have been today. In my case, it's just looking at the sky pouring down on me and just the feeling of the raindrops on my body makes me feel loved.

If I am speaking of rain, and love, and dedicating a song to all of you, I cannot forget the classic which wins my heart over everytime I listen to it and makes me fall in love all over again every time I watch it. Do watch the video, you will not regret it. Celebrating love this monsoon, bollywood style!

Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua
Movie: Shree 420 (1955)
Singers: Manna Dey and Lata Mangeshkar

Pyaar hua ikraar hua hai pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil - 2
Kehta hai dil rasta mushkil maaloom nahi hai kahaan manzil -2

Pyaar hua ikraar hua hai pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil
Kehta hai dil rasta mushkil maaloom nahi hai kahaan manzil

Kaho ki apni preet ka geet na badlega kabhi
Tum bhi kaho is raah ka meet na badlega kabhi
Pyaar jo toota, saath jo chhoota
Chaand na chamkega kabhi

Pyaar hua ikraar hua hai pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil
Kehta hai dil rasta mushkil maaloom nahi hai kahaan manzil
Pyaar hua ikraar hua hai pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil

Raatein dason dishaaon se kahengi apni kahaaniyaan
Geet hamaare pyaar ke dohraayegi jawaaniyaan
Main na rahoongi, tum na rahoge
Phir bhi rahengi nishaaniyaan

Pyaar hua ikraar hua hai pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil
Kehta hai dil rasta mushkil maaloom nahi hai kahaan manzil -2
Pyaar hua ikraar hua hai pyaar se phir kyun darta hai dil

Here's the video:

Have fun people! And do share your special moments associated with monsoon :) If not share, cherish them for sure! :P

I've got no beautiful memories with a loved one but tons with friends. Get wet while its drizzling, sitting on the window pane and watching it pour .. oh-so-beautiful! :)

I've got this habit of splashing water and jumping into puddles and irritating everybody else! .. Those moments are fun!

I love the rains and the puddles and all... but not dirty stinky filthy streets that you find many in mumbai! :| .. i dont like my feet getting dirty! /)

cheers - cutting chai and bhajiya! ;-)

Hary,

I know, isn't that sweet? And since you mentioned cricket, I have childhood memories of playing cricket in the rains too! And we had this shallow cement pit near our house, it was almost like a well and we used to play soccer in it.

:)

Ashrita said...

Annie,

I know! I also love the feeling when I am drenched and wet in the rains and then I come home and take a shower, get fresh and then have my coffee <3 It's one of the best feelings!

Yeah I am hearing the word kanda bhaji too often since yesterday. We can plan a party. It would be great fun!

Ashrita said...

Chriz,

Wow, what a connection. We had someone in our batch during the Mass Media days who had used this song for a safe sex ad too :P And I'm coming to realize how well it fits the bill for a condom ad :D :P

Ashrita said...

Neeraj,

Sleep is the best thing in itself. Add rains to it. It's divine! We used to fight in the mud during holi usually. But we stopped it because men are stupid :P

Nikhil Menon said...

Safe sex or not,Rains always bring a smile to the human being except maybe for the slum dweller(in case) for that might mean,a sleepless night ahead, with literally no cover..

It was nice, the way you brought the relation and the interdependence of rain and love.Good one ash.. :)

Love this song!
and yeah! I am glad that u replied back in my last post comment with a full life go! :) I just read that too!

Happy monsoon dear! still a very little rain here and extremely humid in kanpur, have no special memories as such except for the one when in class 9th I came back in evening accompnying the most beautiful girl side by side on cycle in sahranpur, it was dark and thunderous and she requested me to keep my cycle along side till half way on the same road, she reaches her gully... !! I was a dumb ass, that still I was too shy to talk to her the next day in school... I was so so so dumb and cat caught tongue like boy with her! Huh! anyways...
another one is a memory last year when my best frn kartikey came from lucknow to kanpur at my place to have fun for a day... It started raning and it rained for 1 complete day... till the time, of next afternoon when he had a train back! huh! my cd player, laptop, net and music system was kharab at the same time and we both had a dumb day at home...laughing on our misery!
I made it a point from tht day to always keep some appliances in working condition when a frn comes :P

lastly... a song dedication to u!

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin' seems to fit
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'
So I just did me some talkin' to the sun
And I said I didn't like the way he got things done
Sleepin' on the job
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me won't defeat me
It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me

THIS IS MY FAV RAIN SONG... DO READ THE AWESOME LYRICS AND DO CHECK IT OUT OKIES :)

love and regards
Pulkit

Nikhil,

Yours is a valid point there. Poor slum dwellers. Think of all the diseases. These people have a very tough life... I gave off huge plastic sheets to my kaamwali for covering up her roof just today!

Thanks for liking it :)

Ashrita said...

Nusrath,

Where are you located? Accordingly I can reply to you :P

Ashrita said...

Pulkit,
You send some long comments my man! And I love them :) Thanks for the dedication!

And yeah, I always keep a spare charger in my purse. And Also a flashlight etc. After the 26/7 water hazard in Mumbai!

Ajai said...

That was just pure poetry. Thank you. :)

Nikhil Menon said...

That was a really nice gesture ash..Its only now we tend to realise how much fortunate all of us have been..

And one more thing, these are people who will cherish all those small gifts that u give them,forever..Coz for them, life still has those values and ethos-much different from the people we see around ourselves.. :)

You have just helped a needy smile.. :) **Hats off!! am proud of ya ash..:)

Ashrita said...

Ajai,

It is an old song. Did you read the post? Forgive me if I am wrong but I think you might not have read it because you called the song a poem.

:)

Ashrita said...

Nik,

I know. These people get very happy in such small things :) I got this from my mom. Try to help them whenever we can.

ah!!nostalgia...

love the song... and the post gives me a reason to celebrate rains... I've not been a fan of the constant downpour ever since I set foot in the city :)

Ashrita said...

Anwesa,

You made me feel nostalgic too... I needed a reason to bunk school in the earlier days when vacations had just ended. And rains were the perfect excuse!

Ashrita said...

Aseem,

Oh, yeah I know the streets are fully clogged with water aye. People like me sit at home and celebrate. It has been close to 3 weeks that I have not stepped out of my house as such :P Just here and there in the vicinity of my building... That's it!

Why don't you have a cutting chai with bhajiya too :) You will enjoy the rains then!

Girl.. ur description of rain and love is giving me goosebumps on my skin..LOL....

sorry to spoil the mood of everyone whos reading these comments.. but it is hot as hell here in hyd.......im dying for rain..and the feeling of just lazying around and all cuddled up....alone..(sigh)

I know what you mean. Rain evokes that feeling of craving for chai and bhajia, but my health conscious wife says we should swtich to Marie biscuits or kellogs choco chip cookies. And how the whole thing sucks. If only she had a bloggers dil (mind).
but , what is sweet smell of love? Chanel says its cocochanel, armani says its theirs and D&G has its own version. Its so confusing these days.

That song was by Manna de? Ohh, i thought i was sung by Mukesh.

Sorry about my cockiness, nice post. only that living in a gulf country i have forgotten what rain feels like. :))

ZB said...

sorry about the comment bombardment, but i like the way you write. You write in a simple, non fussy and free-of-jargon style, which is easy for my eyes and most importnt easy on my brain. Keep churning:))
