The perfect prayer!

I personally do not believe in Casteism, Religion, Gender Bias, Ghosts, or anything. But I do believe that there is a divine intervention. I believe in God. And I also follow that this God resides in our hearts, minds and souls. You need not go to the temple to get his blessings, coz he is all around. And recently, I have found the perfect prayer, I looked for it everywhere, but here it was, just lying next to me, with someone special...

Thank you God for the world so beautiful,
Thank you God for the food we eat,
Thank you God for the new things we learn,
Thank you God, for everything.

Isn't it just the perfect prayer? It is short, sweet, and covers everything. I have surprisingly found myself saying it in my mind every night before I go to sleep, and look back at what I have done the entire day. I just felt, I should share it with all of you.

Cheers to all!

me too atheist :(

but i used to love "prayers", "bachpan-me", specially before exams.May "god" give peace to his/her followers. And I want "god" to do something so that people don't fight on the name of "religion".

we have so many other reasons to fight for.I hate this "subject" for fight.

Hey ashrita , may all your prayers come true :)

perfect! Kinda similar to what I say every night! :D

Yeah Seno I knew something like this was coming up from your side :) But yes, what better than substitute it with the word DAD :)

Awww Neeraj, But you know what I have nothing against Atheism. I was an Atheist too, you know. And I do not "idolize" this God. It is more of a divine intervention, some kind of driving force like I mentioned earlier.

I think, the problem of religion and differentiating between people on the name of caste, gender etc. cannot be solved by God. Coz it is man made. People preach and make religions int he name of God. I do not know which God asked them to do so. I know one thing, and I follow it. Everyone is equal, everyone is human.

This is one reason why I do not visit temples unless my parents coax me to do so.

Ashrita said...

Thank you Charzzz. So glad to find someone like me :)

Ashrita said...

Thank you Rashi :) Isn't it absolutely mind liberating to do this before you sleep?!

hey ashrita , visiting temple is fun ...wt you say?.Sweets and time to socialize!!!. Can't help if whole family is going there :)

Even my parents force me do "puja-paath".But they are not so strict these days.

I think they are thinking "maa-da-ladla-bigad-gaya". But still i have to perform all the rituals at mandir.( even now..hehe....4 years now as non-believer)...but why you went back to that world (believer)?.

whatever it's personal choice..and I wish you get peace in your faith.i am with you as far as prayers are concerned. (may be changing word "god" to "nature" can help.)

Hey ash. Sweet & Simple prayer you got there. I actually find it ironic with your username. "Satans Darling" putting up a God's prayer. :)

I'm deeply detached from any prayer or divine ties or inner spirituality. Just get high, live by the day and collect rags ;) but somehow I liked this prayer for yours.

Kinda nostalgic ..takes me to those childhood days ..parents teaching me to fear the god above and always do the right stuff .. till the day I ended up collecting enough evidence and research work suggesting none of the holy entity and idols ever existed in this fucked up world ! :P

I can agree with Neeraj replacing the God with Nature. Nature is the source of life and has its own mysterious ways of creation and destruction with the right balancing act. People know they can fuck with religious books,indoctrination,self-belief,mind-control,rituals,traditions,worships but not with Nature. Never !

Its the very insight that sometimes makes me ask one small question that despite science have reached to such heights that there are nearly 45,000 scientific ways to kill a living being but not a single chemical equation to result in formation of the right structure of amino acids to build protein (building blocks of life) or proper DNA sequence to trigger a new evolution. ~ I'm way off topic I guess (In a nutshell only nature can create life so far) :P

Once again , liked the prayer..may all your prayers come true Ash!

Rag :)

Well, I agree with you... even I take it as a divine intervention, more than as the over rated and over hyped "GOD"... on whom people place all their troubles after creating them... The prayer is good, short, sweet and makes us think about things we normally take for granted... :)

We've said a sklightkly different version of it in school as school pryayer for 10 years.

The first line doesn't come to my mind right now. But it was like this:

Thank you God for the food we eat,
Thank you God for the birds that sing,
Thank you God for everything.

Thanks for reminding the old days. And truly, it surely does sum up everything!

IceMaiden said...

heyyy this was my school prayer too!!! i rem singin (actually hollering at d top fo my voice) whn i was in d 6th std!!! hehe..

abt d topic, very nice read!! i used to call myself an atheist earlier, bt after some really unexplainable instnces.. i feel i m more on d agnostic side. anyway.. me still waiting for some kind og an divine intervention to see if god really exists for me... :)

dear SD... just a chance visitor to your blog who found it wierd, funny, sweet, and very very well-written... you write beautifully...
hope to keep coming back for more.
take care. do visit :)

Ashrita said...

Neeraj,

Yeah, sweets and meeting near and dear ones is always fun :) Besides there is peace too, but there is peace at many other places, like sleeping, and while writing and blogging too :P

I used to be an Atheist before like I mentioned earlier, but then I felt the divine force, thereafter I started believing in it. But you know what, I do not keep Vrats, I do not fast at all! I don't follow Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and all that.. :D

And yes, I do agree that changing the word from God to Nature makes sense. It is just that this poetry I learnt it in school therefore it is very close to my heart.

Hello Rag :)

Well, I am just Satan's Darling :P I never said I was Satanic :D I'm a little bit from here and a little bit from there, what they call, The devilish angel lol.

Like I mentioned in my previous post and also like you said, it takes me back to my childhood and the days when I used to pray whole heartedly and wish for things like chocolates, barbie dolls, santa, and video games :P

You know, it is more like.. Karma. I mean it can be anything. Maybe nature, maybe Karma, I strongly believe in it. What goes around comes around. Things like that. As you sow, so shall you reap. It is a vicious circle.

A very interesting fact which I did not take notice of, It is only nature that can create life! :)

Thank you so much Rag!!

Ashrita said...

Ditto Akansha! You spoke the words in my mind :)

Hello Fati :)

Different versions, but they all mean the same, and its funny how many of us remember it till date, for me it creates a vision of the little child in me who used to be oh so playful and naughty :P

hey ash! thnks 4 droppin by. my! after i read this post i was wondering if i had given u a tough time making u read verses in the exact same topic as this.. jus tht its in the exact 'opposite' way ;P

n yeah, the presence of the supreme force is ever in the quesn.. surprised to see many of the replies actly ;)

i too second when u call it supreme force that way we can save on the religious riots.

n well that principle exists in each n every one of us n we neednt go to the holy places like an obligation.. sensing te union in our hearts will do the need full. n actly even the holy scriptures say only tht.. ('ishvaras sarva bhootanam' or 'ishavasyam idham sarvam')

as for me am not an atheist.. n a theist in all possible way - cos i believe in its existence - as a supereme force, as krishna, as buddha, as jesus, as allah.. i believe its all encomapssing - be it the formless (nirguna) or with form (sadguna)..

"there is only one caste, the caste of humanity
there is only one religion, the religion of love
there is only language, the language of the heart
n there is only one god n He is omnipresent."

ps. well, i have a similar daily prayer 4 myself - a verse 4m joe mannath's 'you surprised me'.. i have posted that in my blog under 'the day starter' - something on these lines you might like it..

peace be to all..

A very sweet prayer. Even though I am agnostic, I do believe there is some upper hand which steers our life in the proper way. And yeah God is omnipresent(if he is there that is :) ).
What people do in the name of religion amazes me though.
You write wonderfully. Sure to follow you. Cheers gal! :)
